An Internet Service Provider (ISP) is a company that provides Internet connections and services to individuals and organizations.
For a monthly fee, ISPs provide computer users with a connection to the Internet. They may also provide software packages such as web browsers, email accounts, and a personal website or home page.
ISPs are connected to each other through public network facilities on the Internet called network access points.
Factors to consider when selecting an Internet provider:
- Types of Internet connections available?
- How fast are the connections?
- Is service available in my area?
- How much will it cost me?
Keep in mind that installation and monthly charges typically are associated with service, so it’s important to know how much you plan to be online. If you plan on being online every day or use the Internet for business, you’ll want a faster rather than a slower connection.Types of Internet Service >>
