Being organized is crucial to safe and successful downloading from the Internet.
Before downloading, decide where the file(s) will be saved; for example the folder named Downloads on your hard drive. If the files are not organized, you’ll have difficulty identifying the different files. A downloaded file typically has a cryptic name, such as:
Later you might not be able to identify what each file is for. But if the files are organized, they can easily be found on the computer’s hard drive.
An issue that may arise is that most downloaded files are zip files, or compressed archive files containing multiple other files. These files need to be uncompressed or unzipped before they are installed. The uncompressed version contains multiple files. If all of the unzipped files suddenly appear in the root or Windows directory, it may be confusing. Many of the files are temporary and can be deleted after successful installation.
Often users select their desktop as the download destination for these temporary files so they can be unzipped and easily be located and deleted afterward.Safe Downloading >>
